The North American Levinas Society was established in 2006 with an inaugural meeting and conference at Purdue University. This historic meeting brought together Levinas scholars and activists from six continents and at least a dozen different countries. The inaugural conference was followed by a second historic conference attended, for the first time, by members of Levinas’ family--who have continued to attend our annual events every year. Since then, we have held conferences at Seattle University (2008), Toronto University (2009), Université Toulouse le Mirail, France (2010), Texas A&M (2011), and the University of Alaska Anchorage (2012). We are excited to announce that our 2013 conference will be hosted by Duquesne University.

We invite you to explore the pages of our NEW Society website and to consider joining the NALS to help us build the most robust Levinas society that we can.
